MOVEMENT AND MUSIC

a circle of doors open on summer's first breeze; I dance through the walls

falling awake to piano music longing for more than coffee

dance and paint and draw and sing not because you can but because you are

I sense the stillness in my movement and the movement in my stillness

she put the laundry in the dryer and went back to playing Debussy

a circle of doors open on summer's first breeze; I dance through the walls

LOVE

drive safe he said; fly safe she said; they turned to go and came together

you sent your love to the moon last night; I sent mine too.  The moon was full.

bittersweet, don't you think?  the more we come together the more we must be apart

drive safe he said; fly safe she said; they turned to go and came together
You sent your love to the moon last night; I sent mine too.  The moon was full.

NEITHER HERE NOR THERE

on that endless night we danced by the river; we didn't miss the sun

I held the bird that died at my doorstep; he flew away with my pain

swinging upside down from a ray of sun singing to the hummingbirds

rowing against the sky against the wind she missed the sun as it set

it's safe here; we don't even need to beat the drums; they just play

GIRL GEEK

they had to google it to learn once there wasn't a google at all

cut once measure twice and mark the wall with a candy apple lipstick

math spoke to her and said "never mind geometry! play with the shapes!"
RUNNING

run though the redwoods with me and be of mud and moss and magic mist

she ran up the mountain listening to the trees whisper fog secrets

she ran in rain and tears, her face streaked with life.   And, the sun always rose.

so they ran;  her dog found rabbits and birds as she lost clouds and shadows

YOGA

I sense the movement in my stillness and the stillness in my movement

the mat is rather indifferent to yesterday, today, someday

balasana: the mind's eye honors the simple wisdom of the mat

becoming that much more of what you already have been becoming

we exhale freely to see we cling to things far less precious than breath

we worry about the next dollar the next kiss but not our next breath
